Kabirdham police bust an interstate vehicle theft gang operating from Haryana, arrest four suspects, and seize stolen vehicles and gadgets worth over ₹41.6 lakh. One accused still at large.
In a major breakthrough against rising vehicle thefts in Kabirdham district, police have busted an interstate gang responsible for multiple high-profile vehicle thefts across several states. The joint operation, led under the direction of Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh (IPS), resulted in the arrest of four key gang members while one remains on the run.
The police have seized a cache of stolen assets, including two heavy-duty Highva trucks, two motorcycles, one car, and four mobile phones—collectively valued at approximately ₹41.6 lakh.
The operation was triggered by the theft of a Highva from Kabirdham headquarters on the night of April 12. A dedicated team from the Kotwali Police Station and Cyber Cell was formed to investigate the case using CCTV surveillance, mobile tracking, and technical analysis.
Further intelligence confirmed that the gang operated from Mewat in Haryana. On April 21, their activities were detected again, prompting the deployment of plain-clothed officers and road blockades. On the night of April 22–23, police spotted a stolen Highva on Jabalpur Road, but the driver fled. Shortly afterward, following a motorcycle snatching alert, a strategic field cordon led to the arrest of Mohammad Ujaer Khan and Mused Khan near Ramhepur.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to selling one Highva in Gujarat and stealing another from Bemetara on April 22. Acting swiftly, police arrested two more gang members, Sameem Khan and Jameel Khan, from Raipur. However, Roshan Khan, a key conspirator, is still at large.
Seized Assets:
-
Highva stolen from Bemetara – ₹30 lakh
-
Car used in theft operations – ₹10 lakh
-
Motorcycle stolen from Raipur – ₹50,000
-
Snatched bike from Ghuksa – ₹50,000
-
Four smartphones – ₹60,000
The gang has links to vehicle thefts in multiple states including Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh. They operated by forging documents to sell the stolen vehicles.
One of their targets included the private yard of former MLA Ashish Chhabra, where a Highva was also stolen.
The success of this operation stands as a testimony to the alertness, coordination, and technical proficiency of the Kabirdham Police, Kotwali, Cyber Cell, and DRG teams. Their swift action demonstrates that no criminal plot is too big to escape the vigilant eyes of law enforcement.
