Massive Anti-Naxal Operation Underway in Bastar to Capture Hidma and Deva

In one of the most extensive anti-Naxal offensives ever conducted in India, over 5,000 security personnel from Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Maharashtra have launched a coordinated mission in the Maoist stronghold of Bastar, specifically targeting the most wanted Naxalite commander Hidma and battalion chief Deva.

Over 1,000 Maoists Trapped

According to sources, intelligence-led efforts have resulted in surrounding more than 1,000 Naxals. At least five insurgents have reportedly been neutralized so far. The operation has entered its third consecutive day, involving multiple elite units.

Forces Involved on Ground:

  • District Reserve Guard (DRG)

  • Bastar Fighters

  • Special Task Force (STF)

  • Chhattisgarh State Police

  • CRPF and COBRA Commando Units

Karekutta Hills Surrounded

The joint forces have strategically surrounded the Karekutta hill range, a known base of Maoist Battalion No. 1, situated along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The dense jungle and rugged terrain have made the engagement intense, with face-to-face combat underway.

Operation Based on Precise Intelligence

The offensive was launched following credible intelligence inputs confirming the presence of Hidma and Deva in the region. In response, a highly synchronized plan was executed, mobilizing troops from three states to create a tightening perimeter.

Maoist Strategy Uncovered

A few days prior, Maoists had warned local villagers to stay away from certain hill paths due to heavy IED deployment. This hinted at an imminent large-scale Maoist activity, which prompted security forces to act swiftly.

Government’s Mission: A Naxal-Free India

This operation follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s declaration of a deadline-driven initiative to eradicate Maoism from the country. The government's clear mandate is to bring peace and development to Naxal-affected regions.
