In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and the central government's ultimatum for Pakistani nationals to return to their country, police across India have intensified efforts to locate and verify foreign nationals residing illegally.

On Sunday early morning, police teams conducted surprise raids in the slums of Bhilai and Durg to identify and verify suspicious individuals. The operation was led by three separate teams under the supervision of Additional Superintendents of Police (ASP).

SSP Vijay Agrawal formed three special teams led by ASP Sukhnandan Rathore, ASP Abhishek Jha, and ASP Padmashri Tanwar. Starting at 4:30 AM, they launched simultaneous raid operations across targeted areas with full police deployment.

  • ASP Rural Abhishek Jha conducted searches in the Urla area under the Mohan Nagar police station in Durg.

  • ASP City Sukhnandan Rathore raided Bombay Awas, Bajrang Para, Hathkhoj, and Store Para areas under Bhilai-3 police station.

  • ASP Padmashri Tanwar led the operation behind Supela Mosque under the Supela police station area.

The raids mainly targeted Muslim-majority areas, where there were suspicions that some residents might have ties to Pakistan or were illegally residing by hiding their true identities. During the searches, police collected identity documents such as Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and fingerprints from the residents.

Verification of the documents and fingerprints will be conducted using police apps to cross-reference records and detect any irregularities. The aim is to ensure that no illegal foreign nationals are residing unnoticed within the community.
