Mohan Nagar police have arrested seven individuals, including two minors, in connection with an assault and rioting incident that occurred on April 25, 2025. All the arrested have been sent to judicial custody, as confirmed by ASP City Sukhnandan Rathore.
The incident came to light after Neeraj Kumar Singh, a resident of Harinagar Katul Board, filed a complaint. According to his statement, he was strolling near his home around 8 PM when a group approached him. The group included Prashant Sahu, Jaydeep Sahu, Vishal Verma, Prince Bakla, Piyush Pandey, along with two minors.
During the encounter, the group reignited an old dispute related to a Ram Navami event. When Neeraj advised them to move past the old issues, Prashant Sahu demanded money from him to purchase alcohol, claiming they were going for a party. Upon Neeraj’s refusal to give money, the group retaliated violently.
They attacked Neeraj using sticks and iron rods they had brought along. Neeraj was brutally beaten and fell unconscious. Hearing the commotion, his family members rushed to the spot and took him to the hospital for treatment.
Based on Neeraj's injuries and his complaint, police registered a case of assault and rioting. On April 27, all seven accused were apprehended and sent to jail.
